A Different Kind of Home Builder
Building a home is one of the biggest investments you'll ever make. You shouldn't have to wonder who is actually managing it.
Hammer Down is a small, local builder by design. We schedule our builds so each one gets our full attention, and Owner Bryan is on site through every phase of the build, swinging a hammer alongside the crew.
That means better communication, more accountability, and another level of attention to the details that make a house a home.
What We Build
Custom homes are what we do best. Every one is stick-framed on a proper foundation, built by a small local crew, with the owner on the job.

More Than a General Contractor
Why Hammer Down?
One of the things that makes Hammer Down different is how involved we stay throughout construction. Rather than subcontracting every phase and managing your project from a distance, we self-perform much of the work ourselves and partner with trusted local subcontractors for specialized trades.
That gives us far more control over scheduling, workmanship, and the finished product on every build we take on in Billings and the surrounding areas.
One crew and one point of contact, from footing to finish.
-
Your Build Gets Our Full Attention
We schedule builds so Bryan can be on your site through every phase instead of spread across a dozen jobs. Your home is the job, not a line on a project board.
-
Owner Involvement
You'll communicate directly with the person responsible for building your home, not a salesperson or a rotating cast of project managers.
-
Hands-On Construction
We self-perform much of our own work, which gives us greater control over workmanship, scheduling, and quality.
-
Straightforward Communication
Building a home involves hundreds of decisions. You deserve straight answers about costs, schedules, options, and challenges.
-
Built for Montana
We understand the practical considerations that come with building homes, shops, and rural properties in Montana.
The Hammer Down Build Process
No mystery, no surprises. Here is how a project moves from a first conversation to move-in day.
-
Initial Consultation
We start by talking through your property, plans, goals, timeline, and approximate budget.
Don't have everything figured out yet? That's okay. Part of our job is helping you understand what needs to happen next.
-
Preconstruction
Before construction begins, we work through plans, engineering, site conditions, selections, subcontractor pricing, and project costs.
The goal is to identify the major decisions before they become expensive changes during construction.
-
Proposal & Contract
Once the scope is established, we walk through the construction proposal, allowances, responsibilities, and contract so everyone understands exactly what is being built.
-
Construction
This is where the hands-on approach matters. We're actively involved throughout construction, from concrete and framing through every stage of the build, while coordinating the specialized trades required to complete your home.
-
Completion
Before turnover, we walk through the home with you, address any remaining punch-list items, and make sure the project is ready for you to enjoy.

What Our Customers Say
Meet Your Builder
Bryan, Owner of Hammer Down Construction
More About BryanWe aren't trying to be the biggest builder in Montana. We're trying to be the one you'd hire again. That means every project gets the attention it deserves, and it's why I stay directly involved and work alongside our crew.
When you hire Hammer Down, you're not hiring a salesperson who disappears after the contract is signed. You're hiring the people who are actually responsible for building your project.
Unless the LORD builds a house, its builders labor over it in vain
